MEDICAL (acute) Detoxification

Evergreen Manor Detoxification is a 15-bed free-standing facility in Everett providing an option for persons withdrawing from alcohol and other drugs.  Evergreen Manor’s Detoxification program (1) allows the individual to safely and humanely withdraw from mood-altering substances and (2) prepares the patient for ongoing treatment.  Average patient withdrawal takes approximately 6 days, with extended stays, as appropriate.

A rapid decrease in, or abrupt discontinuation of, intake of a substance that has been used for a period of time creates physical and emotional distress in the body.  Withdrawal from alcohol and barbiturates can have life-threatening withdrawal syndromes, and admission to a detoxification facility is generally recommended for these drugs.  Withdrawal from opiates, although not life-threatening, can be made more comfortable with medically supervised detoxification.  A few patients, such as pregnant women and persons with other serious medical conditions, should detoxify in a hospital setting and will not be admitted to Evergreen Manor.  Benzodiazepines  have a long life in the body and decisions to accept persons on benzodiazepines is made on a case by case basis.

Our medically supervised program is staffed 24-hours a day by nurses, chemical dependency counselors, and other addiction specialists to provide the following during detoxification:

-         Alcoholism and Drug Education

-         Motivational Interviewing

-         Treatment Referral (including ADATSA application)

-         On-site 12-step Meetings

-         Nicotine replacement therapy (patches)

Patients may bring in their physician-prescribed medications, provided they are in an appropriately labeled container.  The medications may not be taken until the medical provider approves their use.  We provide nicotine patches for smokers during their stay as they will not be allowed to smoke.

Our facility does not allow visitation during detoxification.  No personal phone calls can be made while in Detox. We will ask for a release of information to talk with family and others who want to assist the individual in receiving treatment to facilitate discharge plans.

FEES

Our fee for detoxification is $260 per day.  Snohomish County provides funding for detoxification of low income patients, so no one is refused admission for inability to pay. Evergreen Manor accepts Medicaid coupons and will bill private health insurance, although some plans do not cover free-standing detox facilities. Copays will be the patient’s responsibility.

DETOXIFICATION ADMISSION

To arrange admission, call (425) 258-3255.

To enhance patient care, we stagger admissions throughout the day.  When you call, you will be given a time to arrive and a list of items to bring with you.  We may be unable to provide immediate admission due to high demand for the limited beds.  When this is the case, we will advise of the next opening and schedule that for you.  We will hold a bed for up to 30 minutes; after 30 minutes the bed will be made available to other persons.
